The Christie Brinkley/Peter Cook divorce trial continued on Monday, with Brinkley taking the stand as she continues to fight for custody rights of son Jack, 13, and daughter Sailor, 10.
“I had to deal with his affair with a teenager, I had to deal with his Internet porn life,” Brinkley said, according to an Access Hollywood source on the scene. “Anyone who would chase a teenager, a young girl who he meets on an internet dating site, I mean, where was his judgment?”
After last week’s bitter recounting of Cook’s affair – he admitted to conducting a sexual relationship with then 18-year-old Diana Bianchi, as well as spending thousands of dollars on online porn – today’s testimony was about the couple’s children.
Brinkley’s testimony on Monday began with her life story, going from her Malibu childhood to her move to Paris to study art at 18 to her career as a supermodel. While still involved in various projects, right now is a great place becomes her kids come first and her career is second, she said.
She discussed her relationship with Jack and Sailor, noting their constant communication and her call to them to make the world a better place – they ran a lemonade stand after September 11 to raise money for the Red Cross. Sailor is a member of UNICEF, and both children were in the same room as the Dalai Lama at a Nobel peace summit in Rome.
A hands-on mom, Brinkley says she cooks for the family and read the children the whole “Harry Potter” series, doing voices for the different characters.
The split has raised some difficult questions for the supermodel to answer – she’s spoken to them about sex, drugs and alcohol, she said.
“I think daddy has fallen out of love with me,” she reportedly told the children after the details of Cook’s affair had come out.
According to Brinkley, Cook has been less involved with the children. She claims to have done the legwork in finding the camps and packing their luggage, though she admitted Cook sent an e-mail after to see if they needed help packing. He allegedly offered no financial help. Brinkley stated that she pays all the bills; when Cook bought clothing for Sailor, he allegedly charged half of it to her.
Allegedly, he has a temper as well, getting angry and using force with the kids a dozen or so times, Brinkley claimed.
As for taking care of herself, Brinkley said, dating is off the table while she focuses on helping the kids get over the separation.
The couple will be back in court on Tuesday as their heated custody battle continues.
